The New York Times this week reported that production on the world’s ultimate perennial spy thriller, the new James Bond film starring Daniel Craig, has been suspended indefinitely.
According to numerous sources, the source of the trouble is MGM’s pending sale. It appears that the longtime association between the studio and 22 previous bond films is in jeopardy. The timing is a shame for both the studio and everyone involved, as bond is one of the few sure moneymakers in the film industry.
Daniel Craig has been a huge critical and audience success for the franchise. The last bond movie, 2008’s Casino Royale, netted nearly a billion dollars in box office worldwide.
