Or are there mysterious forces at work that compel us to face our deepest fears?

As former Philadelphia attorney Trevor Adams discovers in Box 3014, the answer isn’t as easy as it seems. The book’s opening chapter finds Trevor getting a tour of an old building. Having left the legal profession, he’s been hunting for a space where he could buy and sell antiques. But the plan is temporarily derailed when the tour guide lights a match, sending Trevor into a pyrophobic meltdown.
Enter Trevor’s longtime girlfriend, Donna. Despite both being in the legal profession, they are fundamentally different people. Unlike Trevor, Donna wants to get married. She also wants to go vegetarian. More importantly, she has a strong belief in the paranormal and the unexplained. After Trevor’s pyrophobic episode, she urges her skeptical boyfriend to seek a hypnotherapist.

His first experience with the therapist does nothing to help him buy into hypnotism as a course of treatment. After the session, he is inexplicably drawn to an old fire house built by the City of Philadelphia in 1922, and decides that it is the perfect site for his antiques store.
Why would a severely pyrophobic man be drawn to a shuddered fire station?

You’ll have to read Box 3014 to find out. DiFrancesco unravels this expertly-paced mystery with the patience of a master who was born to tell this story. While both the setup and payoff are highly original, Box 3014 has the timeless feel of a story that could have been told in any century.
